How to switch baby trackers without losing your history

The short answer

Export a file from the app you are on, then import it. Our Baby Day reads the exports of Huckleberry, Baby Tracker, Baby Connect, Nara Baby and Glow Baby, and it will do its best with a spreadsheet from anything else by working out what each column means.

The import arrives as a batch you can inspect and, if it went wrong, remove in one go — so a bad file is never something you have to undo entry by entry. Your growth measurements come across too, and every day you bring with you is a day you can read.

Months of logging move with you, and a bad import is one tap to undo.

The import review: a Huckleberry export with 2,820 entries to bring over, each kind counted and switchable, and 112 overlapping entries kept as they are
Every count before anything lands — turn off what you would rather leave behind, and what is already here is kept.

Step by step

  1. In your current tracker, find its export (usually Settings › Export, and usually a CSV emailed to you).
  2. Save the file to your iPhone — the Files app, or straight from the mail attachment.
  3. In Our Baby Day, open the import screen, pick the app you came from, and choose the file.
  4. Check the receipt. Every import is a batch with a count of what it created, and “remove this import” takes exactly that batch back out.

What comes across

Feeds, sleep, diapers, pumping, solids and growth measurements, with their original times. Entries from an import are marked in History, so you can always tell them apart from what you logged live. Anything the file does not contain cannot be invented — if your old app never exported a field, it is not in the file.

One thing worth knowing first

Almost every file is read on your phone. When a file is in a shape the phone cannot make sense of, it is sent to our server to be parsed — that is the one time an import leaves the device, it is named on the app’s own Privacy & data screen, and it is written up in the privacy policy. If you would rather it never left, do not use the fallback.

Questions people ask

Which apps can Our Baby Day import from?
Huckleberry, Nara Baby and Baby Connect have built-in column profiles; Baby Tracker’s export and Glow Baby’s PDF are read by the app’s own heuristics, and a spreadsheet from anywhere else is read by matching its columns.
What if the import gets it wrong?
Each import is a batch with a receipt. Removing the batch removes everything it created, even entries you edited afterwards.
Can I get my data back out again later?
Yes — a spreadsheet that re-imports cleanly, a PDF for the doctor, and a zipped backup with every field and photo. Export keeps working even if a subscription ends: what you wrote is never held hostage.
