A tracker for exclusive pumpers

The short answer

Exclusive pumping is two logs that have to be read together: what you produced and what she took. Our Baby Day keeps both. A pumping session records output per side and where it went — fridge, freezer or straight into a bottle — and bottles are logged as breast milk or formula, so the day’s intake is honest.

The charts then answer the question that actually keeps you up: over this week, is what she is taking pulling ahead of what you are making?

Supply and intake in one record, so the comparison is a glance rather than arithmetic.

The Pumping screen: today's output, the last fourteen days, this week against last, and which stored milk to use first
Output by day and by week, and which bag in the fridge to use first.

What a pumping session records

  • Left and right output, recorded separately rather than as one total.
  • Where it went — the fridge, the freezer, or straight into a bottle now — and from the oldest session in each, when it wants using: “Fridge milk from 12 Sep: use by 16 Sep”. It is not a running count of what you have banked; it is the date on the oldest bag, worked out for you.
  • Time of day, which is what makes the pattern readable later — the 4am session is not the 4pm one.

Reading supply against intake

Bottles are logged as breast milk or formula, so the feed charts can separate them. Put that next to the week’s pumping output and the trend is visible without a spreadsheet: output sliding away from intake, a session you have quietly dropped, a day where the combination worked. Ask will do the arithmetic out loud — “how much did she take yesterday?” — from your own records.

Logging at 3am with one hand

A pumping session can be started from the quick-log panel, and the running timer stays on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while you do something else. If you forgot to start it, log it afterwards: switch off “Still pumping” and set when it started and ended.

Questions people ask

Can I track a freezer stash?
Not as a running balance — there is no inventory that adds bags up and takes them away again. What each pumping session records is the output per side and where the milk went, and from the oldest session in the fridge or freezer the app works out when it should be used by.
Can I log left and right separately?
Yes. Pumping records output per side, and breastfeeding has a clock per side plus the side to start on next.
Does it handle combination feeding?
Yes. Bottles are marked breast milk or formula, and the charts keep the two apart.
